Department licence terms

Draft, pending solicitor review. Last updated: 17 October 2026.

  1. Who we are. THE MELT SOCIETY is a trading name of Jack Blake, a sole trader, 14 Kingsbury's Lane, Ringwood, Hampshire BH24 1EL, United Kingdom. Email: [email protected]. How we handle personal data is explained in our privacy notice, which forms part of these terms. These terms apply to sales to schools, trusts and other organisations only (business to business).
  2. What you get. The workbook PDF for the language and exam board on your order, the matching PowerPoint pack where one is available for that edition, and any updates during the licence term.
  3. Term. 12 months from the invoice date. A licence renews only if you accept a renewal invoice. There is no automatic renewal.
  4. What you may do. Staff and enrolled students at one school site may print unlimited copies for students at that site, show the slides in lessons and upload the files to the school's password-protected VLE.
  5. What you may not do. Share the files outside the licensed site (including with other schools in the same trust unless they are licensed), post them on public websites or open links, resell them, remove copyright notices, or use the content to train AI models or build competing products.
  6. After the term. Printed copies already given to students may be kept. Please remove digital copies from your VLE within 30 days unless you renew.
  7. Price and payment. As quoted. The normal price is £149 per licence per year. Founding schools offer: the first 50 department licences are £99 per year, and a founding licence renews at £99 for as long as it is renewed each year without a break; a lapsed licence returns to the normal price. As a non-contractual extra, founding departments receive a Founding Member certificate and badge and an early look at new editions; these extras do not form part of the licence and do not affect the price or your rights under these terms. We are not VAT registered, so no VAT is charged. Payment is due within 30 days of invoice; purchase order numbers are welcome.
  8. Ownership. All copyright stays with Jack Blake. © 2026 Jack Blake, trading as THE MELT SOCIETY.
  9. Independence. Our resources are written for use alongside the AQA and Pearson Edexcel GCSE specifications but are not produced, endorsed or approved by AQA or Pearson. AQA is a trade mark of AQA Education. Pearson and Edexcel are trade marks of Pearson Education Limited. Please refer to the official specification for definitive guidance.
  10. Care and liability. We prepare our resources with reasonable care. Our total liability is limited to the fees you paid in the previous 12 months. Nothing limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
  11. Data. We use staff contact details only to supply the licence. We do not collect student data. See our privacy notice.
  12. Ending the licence. Either side may end the licence for a material breach not put right within 14 days. Because the product is digital, refunds are not given after download unless the files are faulty.
  13. Law. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
